A comprehensive health assessment will be carried out by recording height and weight measurements, resting heart rate, blood pressure and body composition. This will be followed by a fitness assessment so that I can assess your current aerobic fitness level, endurance, muscular strength, posture and flexibility to enable me to evaluate any potential risks and construct a safe and effective exercise program.
Together we will fill out a detailed physical activity and lifestyle questionnaire so that I can ascertain your likes and dislikes and therefore help you achieve your goals.
It is never too late to start exercising however starting a vigorous regime without proper guidance can lead to injury or just a loss of interest. At the outset I will carry out a full analysis, and with the information gathered, I am able to design a fully balanced program to specifically meet the needs of the client. The body needs constant progression to stimulate it and I therefore carefully plan workouts and fitness assessments to achieve your goals.
With most people it is not that they don't want to exercise, but other things in life such as work, children and housework, always take priority and we end up with very little time for ourselves. If anything has to be rearranged from your diary to make space, I guarantee it will always be the exercise. Having a personal trainer can be hugely beneficial to encourage you to make exercise part of your routine. I discuss with my clients how much time they can feasibly set aside for exercise. After all anything is better than nothing at all. My clients text/email when they have completed their workout, they tell me this works well as it serves as a gentle reminder and means their workouts are less likely to be forgotten in the blur of everyday life. As well as one to one training I also train groups of two up to eight at a discounted price.
It is advisable that the trainer you use has had instruction and is qualified in pre and postnatal exercise as there are some restrictions during pregnancy which must be adhered to. I have this training and experience.
I teach my clients to be aware of what they are eating, I do not believe in fad diets. Any changes made to eating habits should be life long. At the consultation stage we discuss weight loss goals and whilst I will advise on healthy weight, the agreed goal is always decided by the client. Clients will write food diaries and with my help and encouragement work to achieve their weekly weight loss goal.
